Amory – Helen Harrison Alexander, 83, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2015, at Sanctuary Hospice, Tupelo. Born on November 5, 1931, in Sulligent, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Angie O’Mary Harrison.
Helen attended school in Sulligent. She attended Potters Clay Community Church in Fulton. A very caring woman, she spent her entire life working as a caretaker for elderly people. She married Virgil “Bud” Alexander. Her family gave her the most enjoyment in life, especially her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was a loving and supportive mother who was hospitable to anyone that came to her home. Helen liked listening to gospel music, especially the Gaithers. In her free time, she liked reading any kind of books and writing.
Survivors include her daughters, Anita Chism (Steve), Amory, and Debby Collum (Mike), Golden; grandchildren, Anthony Morris (Cindy), Michele Wardlaw (John), Michael Morris, Wade Morris (Jennifer), Dwayne Holliday, Jennifer Stiles, Adam Holliday, and Chris Bennett (Christy); 29 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Virgil, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kaye Holiday; a sister, Doris Smith; and a brother, Billy Harrison.
A Funeral Service will be held at 4 PM, Monday, August 10, 2015, E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Smithville Chapel, with Bro. Eddie Harlow officiating. Burial will follow in Young Memorial Garden. Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.
Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Sunday, and from 3 PM until the service hour on Monday at the Smithville Chapel.
