– Hazel Moore Towery, 73, died on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Blount Memorial Hospital, Maryville, TN. Born on March 19, 1938, in Haleyville, AL, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Omie Susie Thomas Moore. Mrs. Towery attended Haleyville and Huntsville, AL, schools. She married Kelley Doyle Towery in 1954. Before retiring, she worked as a seamstress for 20 years with Smithville Garment Plant. She was Baptist. A very caring, gentle, appreciative, and compassionate yet private lady, Mrs. Towery loved her husband and family dearly. Outspoken and a model for the Golden Rule, she enjoyed family activities, riding in the car with her husband, playing Monopoly, television, laughing at jokes, flower gardening, and Country music, especially George Jones. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Noon, Saturday, February 11 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Van D. Hudson officiating. A private family burial will be held in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Visitation will be from 10 – 11:45 AM, Saturday at the funeral home. She is survived by her daughters, Wanda Cooper (Robin), Maryville, TN, Denietsia Coates, Tuscumbia, AL, and Sandra T. Walters (Tim), Smithville,; sons, Rodney D. Towery (Genia), Rock Hill, SC, and Steven W. Towery, Smithville; brother, Wayne Moore, Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Brian and David Cooper; Neil and Eric Walters; Katie Johnson; Kirk Walters; Mandy Hudson; Erin Dyer; Kerri Berryhill; Steven D. Towery; Bryan Coates; and Tyler Towery; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kelley Doyle Towery.
