Hazel Monaghan Rutell

Hazel Knoop Monaghan Rutell Mena, AR - Hazel Knoop Monaghan Rutell, 93, died on Sunday, September 26, 2010, at her home. Born in Peotone, IL, she was a daughter of the late William and Freda Knoop. Hazel loved the Lord and had expressed her desire to be with him.
Hazel moved to Mena in 1970 with her husband Ted Monaghan, having lived in Michigan, California, Maine, Wyoming, Nevada, Utah, Idaho and Illinois, and working personally for Henry Ford in the Ford Dealerships. After retiring, they settled in Mena to own a cattle and horse ranch near the Ouachita River. Ted died in 1985. She married Woodrow Rutell in 1995 and called Mena home. Hazel loved and was loved by the people she met and always welcomed them into “her family.”
She was active in many of the local women’s clubs, including the Lioness Club. A member of First Methodist Church, she served as an adult Sunday school teacher for many years. Hazel’s love for horses and animals led to a very active role in “For the Sake of Animals.”
Hazel was a treasured sister to Shirley Yowell, Fern Jones and brother, George Knoop. She was a very special aunt to many nieces and nephews in the Knoop, Monaghan and Rutell families. In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husbands, Ted Monaghan and Woodrow Rutell; sisters, Loraine Seeman and Florence Thompson; and brothers, Maurie and Ahron Knoop.
A Graveside memorial service for Hazel will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, October 30 in Providence Cemetery, Nettleton with Mr. Bill Monaghan officiating. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 AM.
