Amory - Hazel Louise Carlisle Herndon, 87, died on Monday, July 2, 2012 at the Choctaw County Nursing Center in Ackerman. Born November 14, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Gideon Clark and Annie Louise Bobo Carlisle.
She was married to J.C. Herndon. A woman of faith, she was a member of the Amory Church of Christ. A graduate of Okolona High School, she and her husband co-owned Billy’s Drive-In in Amory and before her retirement she worked as an inspector for Stratolounger. She enjoyed sewing, yard work, cooking, and listening to music.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, July 5, 2012, at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Mr. Philip Hathcock officiating. Burial will be in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Chris Threadgill, Jeremy Threadgill, Leedrew Wise, and Dickie Wise. Mike Reeves will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeannie Reeves Threadgill of Ackerman; a son, William Stanley Reeves, Jr., (Joan), of Becker; a sister, Mary Ann Carlisle Thompson of Vicksburg; a brother, Dennis Carlisle of Holly Springs; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John C. Herndon; two brothers, Charles “Buck” and Jimmy Carlisle; and two sisters, Margie Carlisle and Laura Wise.
Visitation will be from 12:30 until the service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
