Harold Wade Vinson

Shannon – Harold Wade Vinson, 80, passed away from this earth on Thursday, December 26, 2024 and became totally healed and reunited with so many of his loved ones who went on before him. He was born on December 9, 1944, in Shannon, Mississippi to the late James Oliver and Betsy Jane Delozier Vinson.

Wade grew up in a large family and learned early how valuable family was as he had five sisters and seven brothers. He graduated from Shannon High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he proudly served our country from 1963 until 1967. During his time in the military, Wade fought in the Vietnam War. Upon returning to the states, he married Robbie Lou Sanderson on January 27, 1973. They were blessed with a large family and were happily married for over 37 years until her passing. He was a great provider for his family. He was a contract painter for Cook & Riley Inc. and painted many the homes and businesses in the surrounding counties. He retired at the age of 67 in 2012.

He was a fantastic man who touched so many lives. He loved the Lord and was of the Pentecostal faith. A man who lived out his faith daily, he was selfless, always putting others before himself. He had a wonderful attitude towards life and a heart of gold. He cherished others especially his children and grandkids. He really liked family get-togethers and knew how to have fun and whenever they greeted him they would ask him how’s it going? In response, he always gave his classic line “same ole 7 & 11”.

Wade loved to be outdoors, especially playing basketball or fishing on a quiet afternoon. He often challenged his kids and grands to a game of hoop, never disappointing anyone with his shots. When it came to college sports, in his eyes, there was only one team, Ole Miss. He and his close friend, Bucky Parker, made many the trips to Oxford to indulge on their favorite past time of supporting the Rebels. He often greeted friends and family, post victory days, with “Hotty Toddy” instead of a simple hello.

His kind spirit drew others in and his laid back attitude always made folks feel at ease. Wade’s family and friends will miss him so much, yet they know he is at peace. The wonderful memories made through the years will be cherished for generations to come and there is no doubt that there won’t be another man like him on the court of life.

Wade is survived by his daughters, Lynn Murphree (Rusty) and Judy Vandiver (Mike); sons, Mark Gazaway, Danny Gazaway (Dawn) and Roger Gazaway (Lisa); six grandkids, Nathan (Renea), Anthony (Crystal), Matthew (Nicole), Cody (Mary), Lacy Vandiver, and Kristy Anderson (Tony); fourteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Dot Wigley and Patricia Vinson; brother, Gerald Vinson (Lee); many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Robbie Sanderson Vinson; 3 sisters and 6 brothers.

The family would like offer a special thanks to the people who helped take such good care of Wade, Donna Soden, Billie Chalopizza, and the Comfort Care Keepers staff.
