Guy Windell Pettit, 75, passed away Friday, August 11, 2016 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. Born August 18, 1941 in Itawamba Community, he was the son of the late J.D. Pettit and Vera Mae Bethay Pettit.
Mr. Pettit graduated from Itawamba Agriculture High School in the class of 1959. After graduation, he joined the Air Force and was stationed at the Lakeland Air Force Base. He was a member of the Nettleton Independent Methodist Church and loved to listen to Gospel music. He was a salesman for Western Auto in Nettleton. Guy was involved in various community activities and loved to share life with family and friends. He was actively involved in the Rural Community Development Council. The Carolina Community bestowed the honor of “Mayor” to Mr. Pettit.
He is survived by his sister, Patsy Pettit, Carolina Community; Nieces and nephews: Michelle Pettit Prince, Verona; Pam Brown (Tracy), Fulton; Tammy Loague (David), Fulton, Marty Pettit (Mimi), Verona; nine great nieces and nephews, and eight great-great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Pettit was preceded in death by a son, Jessie Daniel Pettit, Jr.; Brothers: Rudolp Pettit, Reid Pettit, Billy Wayne Pettit and a nephew: Mack Pettit
A celebration of life service will be held at 7:00 PM, Saturday, August 13, 2016 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory. Bro. Bubba Kennedy will be officiating. Burial will be at 4:00 PM, Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Wiygul Cemetery in the Carolina Community. Pallbearers will be: Matt Taylor, Dave Loague, Bradley Starling, C.J. Adams, Jacob Prince, Mack Pettit, Jordan Metcalf, Taylor Sparks.
Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to the Nettleton Independent Methodist Church.
