Amory – Oleen G. Palmer, 85, died on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at her residence. Born on August 17, 1927, in Sulligent, AL, she was a daughter of the late Marlin and Mary Jane Noe Seales.
Mrs. Palmer attended high school in Detroit, AL. On January 27, 1945, she married Rubel F. Palmer. Mrs. Palmer worked as a bookkeeper for C & F, Fowlkes Contracting, Cox Kitchens, Amory Body Shop, and for Soap Francis. A Godly lady who was a champion for Christ and passionate about her church, she was a member of First Baptist Church, Grace (Mary Lib’s) Sunday School class, and Triple L. Mrs. Palmer was a member of the Pilot Club and Junior Auxiliary; worked with Meals on Wheels; and was a strong supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Strong-willed and the rock of her family, she enjoyed spending time with her family, being outdoors, playing bridge, working in her flowers, and listening to Southern Gospel music.
She is survived by her daughters, Rita Hood, Amory, and Mary Jo Huffman (Robert), Meridian; son, Butch Palmer (Vickie), Smithville; grandchildren, Jason Hood (Kayla), Elisabeth Williams Oliver, Daniel Williams (Kelly), Nikki Sandifer (Jamie), Micah Huffman, and Tanner Palmer; great-grandchildren, Skyler and Cade Oliver; Natalie, Mary Haley, and Camden Hood; Ann Marie Taylor; and Owen, Braden, and Colton Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rubel F. Palmer, Sr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Larry Williams; and 11 brothers and sisters.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, December 20 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Dr. Allen Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Hood, Daniel Williams, Micah Huffman, Jamie Sandifer, Tanner Palmer, Skyler Oliver, and Cade Oliver. Honorary pallbearers will be Grace Sunday School class.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home.
