Amory- Grace Devall, 91, died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Care Center of Aberdeen. Born July 9, 1921 in Bigbee, she was a daughter of the late John Gainey and Dora Ridings Sloan. Grace married Roy Lee Devall on March 23, 1940.
Growing up in the Carolina Community, she was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Later moving to Smithville and Amory, she worked in the area garment plants, where she could do just about anything. Being raised in a big family, her family played an important part in her life, with God being her first priority. Possessing a great sense of humor and fun loving, Grace was able to turn the worst of situations into something good. She enjoyed singing, even getting the chance to sing on the radio, listening to music, gardening, and fishing and camping with her late husband.
She is survived by her daughter, Nona DeVall (Ray), Dickinson, TX; grandchildren, Jamie DeVall (Tracie), Pasadena, TX and Michael DeVall, Dickinson, TX; sisters, Una Newton, Amory and Dorothy Clay, Fulton; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Afton Barrett and Martha Grace; brothers, Johnny, Shirley and E.A. Sloan.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 A.M., Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with Bro. Chuck Moffett officiating. Burial will follow in the Carolina Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jamie and Michael DeVall, Bobby and Larry Sloan, Bobby Carter, Perry Newton, Tony Carr, and Jim Stallings.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
