Gordon D. “David” Thompson

Aberdeen— Gordon David Thompson, 67, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born on February 6, 1951, in Aberdeen, he was a son of Gordon “Red” and Mildred Thompson.
David attended Aberdeen schools and lived in the area all of his life.

During his career, he worked for Conoco in Aberdeen for 20 years, where he was a lab tech. David was a strong willed individual who loved his family more than anything. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved watching his kids and grand kids play. David cherished his family and left a lifetime of memories with them. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is making his Heavenly home in a better place.

David is survived by his sons, Butch Thompson (Robin), Auburn, AL, Timmy Thompson (Dana), Amory; grandchildren, Walker Thompson, Mia, Anna, Olivia, and Madelyn Thompson; sister, Candy Archer (Kenneth), Wren; brother, Donald Thompson (Mary), Hamilton; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be held at 9 AM Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at New Hope Cemetery on Coontail Road. Bro. Dennis Smithey will be officiating the service. Pallbearers will include family members.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
