Gloria Mixon
Shannon – Gloria Gay Mixon, 83, left his earth and began her new life in Heaven on Sunday, January 28, 2024. She was born on July 11, 1940 to the late Davis Clarence and Pairlee Wright Sarrells, in Sulligent, Alabama.
Gloria went to school in Lamar County, Alabama and later in life obtained her G.E.D. She married the love of her life, Doyle Gene Mixon on July 3, 1982 and they were blessed with over forty one years of marriage and large family. She worked hard all her life as a seamstress in the area Garment Factories, including Leggett and Platt and she also worked in the fabric department of Walmart. She was talented with her hands, sewed, crocheted and made many beautiful items through the years. Gay loved to sew and she also owned a flower shop at one point in her life where she made beautiful floral arrangements. One of her other hobbies was also making hats by crocheting them for loved ones.
She loved the Lord and was of the Pentecostal faith. Gloria always put God first and then her husband and family and friends. She was a very loving and caring person who was a great Christian example by her daily walk. Gloria would help anyone in need if she could. She loved to listen to Gospel music and enjoyed worshipping the Lord through song. One of her closest friends was Dorothy Shannon and Gloria was a member of the Homemakers Club.
Gloria will missed dearly by her family and friends. The memories made through the years will be cherished forever. Her loved ones are at peace that she is with her Savior.
She is survived by her husband, Doyle Gene Mixon, Shannon; son, Greely Wayne Blair, Gattman, MS; step-daughters, Teresa Jernigan (Jimmy). Fulton, Lesha Laumen (Bill), Fulton, and Frankie Snipes, Tupelo, MS; sister, Fay Johnson, Savannah, TN; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her mother, Pairlee Wright Sarrells; daughter, Sherry Blair; and step-son, Doyle Gene Mixon, Jr.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 2:00 pm, at Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Crews Community, Alabama, with Bro. Stanley Blaylock officiating with burial following. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday at the Funeral Home in Amory, MS from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm.
