Amory – Glenn Edward Poe, 82, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Merit Health Gilmore Memorial. Born on December 23, 1933, in Indianola, MS, he was a son of the late Thomas Glenn and Itell Phillips Poe.
Glenn was a graduate of Indianola High School and attended Mississippi College. He retired from Quaker Oats Company. Dedicated and very active in many roles of the church, Glenn was a Ruling Elder of First Presbyterian Church of Amory. Family-oriented, he loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and siblings and enjoyed spending time with them. A loyal friend who was caring, witty and possessed a big heart, Glenn was a founding member of Country Boy’s Breakfast Club. He was a member of Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife and best friend, Linda Livingston Poe, Amory; daughters, Amy Bowman (Michael), Shreveport, LA, Melinda Ford (Ricky), Smithville, and Susan Kennedy (Gregg), Smithville; grandchildren, Chellie Bowman, Forrest-Anne Bowman, Molly Bowman, Thomas Kennedy (Bonny), Kara Burks (Colby), and Ben Kennedy (Layla); great-grandchildren, Chase Burks, Cullum Kennedy, and Annie Mae Kennedy; sisters, Patricia Tilley (Vic), Gulfport, Martha Mitcham (Wilson), Roswell, GA; brother, Bill Poe, Starkville; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
His Funeral Service will be held at 3 PM, Friday, June 10, 2016, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Dr. Tom Cheatham officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Chellie Bowman, Thomas Kennedy, Kara Burks, Forrest-Anne Bowman, Ben Kennedy, and Molly Bowman. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Breakfast Club of Country Boys.
