Amory – Glema Dale Knight Young, 89, died on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at her residence. Born on April 2, 1925, in Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late Ephram Elbert and Sally Lou Green Knight.
Mrs. Young was a graduate of Pine Grove School. On July 13, 1941, she married Spencer Young. In 1969, with her husband, they opened and operated Country Squire for 31 years. Mrs. Young was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Very dedicated and passionate about her family, she was a great cook who enjoyed preparing lunch for them every Sunday. A loving, classy, dedicated and strong example to her family, Mrs. Young was good to everyone and touched the lives of every person she met. She enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Young Henley, Aberdeen; son, Donald Young (Becky), Nettleton; sister, Juanita Ausbon (Buster), Pewaukee, WI; grandchildren, Tim Graham (Cindy), Madison; David Young (Tina), Lisa Rye (Ricky), Craig Young (Lori), Kristy Kelley (Marty), Kelly Young (LaCrisha), and Kim Payne (Lance), all of Nettleton; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews; dedicated niece and caregiver, Kim Lann.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Spencer Young, on December 23, 2003; son-in-law, C. E. “Bubba” Henley; 4 sisters; a brother; special friend, Florene Pounds.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday, December 19, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Jimmy Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Rye, Doyle Young, Lance Payne, Marty Kelley, Benny Wright, Sam Carpenter, Edsil Carpenter, William “Scooter” Henson, and Eddie Finley.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Thursday at the funeral home.
