Hatley, Miss.—Geraldine Majors Frederick, 79, died on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at her home. Born November 25, 1934 in Monroe County, she was a daughter of Marion Dee and Josie Gilmore Majors.
A life-long resident of Monroe County, she was married to William R. Frederick. Before her retirement, she worked for over 50 years in the garment industry and she was a long-time member of the Christian Chapel Church of Christ. She took great joy with the Lady Bugs group at church, a ministry which made teddy bears for children in the hospital or emergency room. An accomplished cook, she was known by many for her caramel cakes. Her hobbies included camping, family gatherings, eating out, and fishing which she took great pride in being able to out-fish her granddaughter.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Minister Marshall Eubanks, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, William R. Frederick of Hatley; one daughter, Shelia Hall of Hatley; one son, William Gerry Frederick (Nettie) of Pontotoc; one sister, Evelyn Brock of Amory; 6 sisters-in-law, Verdean Sharp, Mattie J. Upton, Jewel Levy (Joel), Judie Cox, O’Clay Sloan, and Linda Hughes; one granddaughter, Emily Hall ofHatley; two special nieces, Camilla Roberts and Sharon Chism Elledge (Delbert); numerous other nieces and nephews; and special friends, the Lady Bugs, Blanche Chamblee, Evie Harrison, Minnie Alice Pullen, and Jim and Brenda McCreary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Maxine Chism; two brothers-in-law, Earl Chism and Earl Brock; and a nephew, Travis Brock.
Pallbearers will be the elders of the Christian Chapel Church of Christ. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of the Christian Chapel Church of Christ and the Lady Bugs.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. on Thursday evening and will continue until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
