Amory—Georgie Sue Majors, 84, passed away on November 3, 2016 at Merit Health Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory, MS. Born in Monroe County on August 12, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Grady and Willie Pearce Stanford. She attended school at Pearce Chapel School and graduated from Smithville High School, class of 1950.

She was a descendent of one of the founding families of Pearce Chapel Freewill Baptist church where she was a cherished member. She was an avid reader of the Bible and was a prayer warrior for her church, community and her family. She was a seamstress at Monroe Trousers and Amory Garment Company. She met her husband, Ernest Lee Majors while working together at Monroe Trousers. They were married on August 24, 1957. Together they had three wonderful daughters.
If one was to describe Mrs. Majors, they would say that she was a very precious loving mother and grandmother. She loved the Pearce Chapel community. She loved people and became a personal care aide to help those who needed her. One who loved to cook, her chicken and dressing as well as her chocolate pie were the family favorites. In her spare time, she loved to listen to the old Hymns as well as old time Gospel music. Her yard was so beautiful that she was awarded the Yard of the Month just a couple of years ago.

Georgie Sue is survived by her daughters: Patsy Lee Lyle, Smithville, Karen Sue Freeman(Gerry), Belden, and Sherry Marie Flippo(Roger), Aberdeen; sisters: Marie Lackey, Guntown, Joyce Snow, Tupelo, and Doris Jean Palmer, Saltillo; Grandchildren: Emily (John) and Allison Lyle, Kimberly Mooneyham(Jeffery), Brittany Freeman, Audrey Prince(Steven), Ashton, Miranda, Kaylee, Brent(Jennifer), Nathan Flippo; Great-grandchildren: Tara Burks, Annabella Boyd, Eli Owens, Tori Chandler, Gavin Crumpton, Brittany and Haley Prince; a host of nieces and nephews and a son-in-law Marty Lyle.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Stanford and a sister, Maybelle Boswell.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at the Pearce Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor John Johnson and Dr. Roy McHenry officiating. Burial will follow at the Pearce Chapel cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Steve Stanford, Tony Palmer, Trevor Palmer, George Snow, Michael Snow, Brad Lackey, Chris Harris, Doug Stevens, Ken Williams, Butch Palmer, Kenny Sumerford and Caston Gainey.

Visitation will be from 5:00–8:00 PM on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the E.E.Pickle Funeral Home in Amory. Visitation will continue at the Pearce Chapel Freewill Baptist Church on Sunday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM.
