Wren – George L. Tappan, Jr., 62, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at NMMC, Tupelo. Born on September 6, 1953, in Grand Island, NE, he was a son of the late George L. Tappan, Sr., and Bonnie Newton Story.
George attended school in Nebraska, California, and Colorado. Before becoming disabled, he worked in a beef packing plant in Nebraska. He was a Christian. Moving to Wren in 1990, George loved his family and enjoyed spending time with and spoiling all his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Having a big heart, he was an animal lover and especially loved dogs. Determined and dedicated, George was a fighter in overcoming life’s issues. He took pleasure in checking everyone’s mail and delivering it to them every day. He enjoyed building model cars and listening to Country music.
Survivors include his sister, Kris Palmer (Don), Wren; 5 nieces; 6 nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; special friend, Dan Palmer; and his dogs.
A private family memorial service will be held on Saturday.
