Geneva DeVall Stone
Amory – Geneva Ray Manasco DeVall Stone, 95, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016, at Merit Health Gilmore Memorial Hospital. Born on October 24, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Chester Ray and Minnie Mae Pierce Manasco.
At an early age, she became a seamstress in the Amory area garment plants. She was blessed by God in her lifetime with two loving husbands. She married James B. DeVall and together they had a son. Later in life, she married Robert E. Stone. Geneva changed careers once she moved to Kenosha, Wisconsin where she worked as a Nurse at the local Catholic Hospital. Geneva eventually moved back to Amory to do some seamstress work and retire. Geneva was a Baptist and her faith was apparent in her actions and words. She was a very loving, selfless mother and sister, who sacrificed her time for others. She was a caretaker for both of her elderly parents as well as for her invalid nephew. Her huge heart was apparent to all that met her. She enjoyed playing games, especially Bingo, Checkers and cards in general. She liked listening to Christian Hymns as well as other music. Performers, like Bobby Carter, really blessed her heart when they would come perform at her final residence, Golden Living. Geneva blessed her son with her wisdom, guidance and care and for that, all her descendants will be forever grateful.
Survivors include her beloved son, Ray DeVall, Dickinson, TX; grandchildren, Jamie Ray DeVall and Michael Dion DeVall; great-granddaughter, Tamara Jeffreys; great-great-grandson, Caden. She was also blessed with 10 nieces and 3 nephews in her lifetime.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Vernice McGee; brother, Elvie Manasco.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, April 16, 2016, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Bro. Arlis Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Howell Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ray, Jamie, and Michael DeVall; Bobby Phillips; Arlis Lee.
