Huntsville, AL - Gena Mae Turner Nabors, passed away peacefully on January 7th, 2017, at the age of 90. Gena was born in Amory, Mississippi, on September 22, 1926, to the late William Restus and Valeria Parham Turner.
Gena attended Hatley High School and Amory High School where she achieved All State Honors as a basketball player. She married Guy Marvin Nabors after World War II, and they were happily married for 62 years. She enjoyed watching sports, primarily SEC football, and Tennessee women's basketball. As a Christian, everyone is confident she is at home in heaven.
She is survived by her children, Dennis Nabors (Ruth), Jan N. Ellis (Jimmy); grandchildren, Caroline N. Rosen (Brent), Dennis Nabors, Jr., Spratling Nabors, Robert Barrow (Paula), Scott Barrow (Laura Beth), Krysten Ellis, and Sean Ellis(Anjali); great-grandchildren, Hannah, Hunter, Hayden, Boothe, Olivia, and Maeve.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Marvin Nabors; aunt, Lucian Morgan Parham, who was like a mother; and brothers, Herman P. Turner and Eubert U. Turner.
Her Graveside Service will follow visitation in Masonic Cemetery on Saturday, January 14, 2017, with Pastor Don Paris and Mr. Donny Harrison officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Barrow, Spratling Nabors, and Morningside of Madison staff and residents.
Visitation will be from 10 AM - 12 PM, Saturday, at the funeral home. Following visitation, we will leave in procession for the cemetery.
