Wren – Gary Kaye Brown, 64, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016, on the old home place in Wren. Born on February 11, 1952, at Gilmore Sanitarium in Amory, he was a son of the late Ira Darlin “R. D.” and Eunice Elise “Runt” Malone Brown.
A lifelong resident of Monroe County, he was 1972 graduate of Amory High School. Gary retired from the City of Amory and was better known as “Caveman” or “Bear” around the area.
He may have seemed quiet but his wit made you laugh. Even with his burly look, Gary was a good, kind and generous man helping others often. A very loving, caring and genuine person, he enjoyed hunting for arrowheads, mud riding, and is believed to be one of the best “Barter Junkies” in Northeast MS. He loved being with friends and family, especially at gatherings, enjoying the good food and fellowship. With a happy-go-lucky attitude, Gary was a collector of many things. His road trips with his brothers going junkin, and his flea market gems showed his passion and knowledge for finding unique, different, and country style items. For an indescribably lovable person, who loved playing with his dog, Coco, and the goats, both named Ned, he was a blessing to all he met and was loved by many.
He is survived by his daughters, Elisa Petty (CK), Purvis, MS; Tracy Brown, Smithville; Chastity Brown (TJ), Fulton; Hannah Brown, Amory; sons, Gary C. Brown and Ira Brown (Nikki), Smithville; Zane Gottfried (Ashley), Oklahoma; his siblings, Sam Brown, Sr., (Dianne), Ricky Brown (Chekeetta), Roger Brown (Connie), Barbara Brown Hutson (Bart), all of Wren; Iris Brown Pearson (Jack), Amory; Jan Brown Speck (Don) and Randy Brown (Susan) of Blue Springs; a host of grandchildren, a great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Terry Steven Brown; grandparents, Ira Griffin and Willie Bell Noe Brown; Marshall Jesse and Clara Bell Bacon Malone.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 AM, Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Grady's Chapel United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amory Animal Shelter, PO Box 118, Amory, MS 38821.
