Caledonia – G. C. White, 84, died on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Gateway Medical Center, Clarksville, TN. Born on August 25, 1925, in Monroe County, he was a son of the late Will and Etta Nolan White.
Mr. White attended Bartahatchie School. Working as a farmer, he moved to Kenosha, WI, to work for American Motor Company. When he returned to the area, Mr. White worked as a heavy equipment operator for Arundel, Atkinson, and Ball Construction Company, working on the Smithville Lock and Dam. He was a member of the Church of God. Having the ability to make people laugh, Mr. White enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, doing mechanic work, and listening to Country music.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Joyce W. White, Caledonia; daughter, Christy Miller, Caledonia; granddaughter, Lauren Miller, Caledonia; sisters, Dixie J. Nichols and Bonnie Jourdon of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Jewel, Margie Holloman, and Lucille Honeycutt; twin brother, A. V. White and brother, James White; and a brother-in-law, James Jourdon.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, March 7, 2014, in Egger Cemetery with Rev. James Perkins officiating. Pallbearers will be Dale and Sammy Honeycutt; and Randall White. Honorary pallbearer will be Charles White.
Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, Friday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home.
