Aberdeen— Freddie Gene Thompson, 63, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at his residence in Aberdeen. Born in Amory, on August 15, 1956, he was a son of James Rex and June Harlow Thompson.
Freddie graduated from Amory High School with the Class of 1974 before enlisting into the United States Air Force. He served this country until February of 1980. Freddie was a truck driver with Gibson Container for over 25 years. He was of the Baptist faith.
A friendly, outgoing country boy, Freddie would give the shirt off his back to a stranger in need. He was known for his kindness and loving heart. He valued his family above all else. In his free time, Freddie enjoyed fishing, hunting and cooking. To know Freddie was to love him, and he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Freddie is survived by his daughter, Brittany Vaughn, of Smithville; grandchildren, Tyler Vaughn, Johnathan Vaughn, Bailey Vaughn, Kaylee Cooper, Hayden and Brayden Cooper, Noah Cooper; brothers, James Edward Thompson, Huntsville, AL, Teddy Ray Thompson, Aberdeen; and mother of his children, Crystal Vaughn.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Tiffany Vaughn; and brother, Rex Allen Thompson.
A funeral service will be held at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory at 1PM on Monday, February 10, 2020, with Bro. Dennis Smithey officiating. There will be no graveside services. Burial will be in Wren Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terry Garner, Rusty Murphy, Vincent Miles, Steve Gilll, Michael Pearson, and Dusty Thompson. Tyler and Johnathan Vaughn will serve as honorary pallbearers
Visitation will be from 11AM until the service hour on Monday.
