Franklin "Frank" Camp

Franklin “Frank” Carrade Camp, 79, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, Mississippi. Frank was born April 26, 1945, to Will and Frances (Swan) Camp in Birmingham, Alabama. He grew up in a loving family with one brother, Jerry, and one sister, Jane. He attended and graduated from Ensley High School in Birmingham, Alabama. It was there he met and fell in love with the love of his life Carole Honea Camp. They were married on September 16, 1966 and they shared 45 wonderful years until her passing in 2011. They were blessed with two precious children, Jodie and Frank Jr.

Frank was a patriot and in 1965 became a proud Marine. Serving his country with honor, he received the Good Conduct Medal and the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. Upon his return to civilian life, after his military career, he worked as a Security Guard at the Army Aviation Facility at Tupelo, Ms. He was an active member of the American Legion in Tupelo and a Baptist by faith.

He is described by those who knew him best as a really good guy who loved spending time with his family, playing cards with his friends and spending time with his family and best friend, his brother Jerry, at the lake. In his free time, he enjoyed working in his yard, and fishing. An Avid Alabama fan, he liked to watch Alabama football,” Roll Tide”! He would be quick to tell you his greatest accomplishment was raising his family. His sage advice reminding friends and family “If you make your bed, you have to lie in it.”

He is survived by his daughter; Jodie Cleveland (Dallas) Saltillo, Ms.; grandchildren, Kendrick (Hannah) and Nick Isbell and Chase, Zeke (Caroline) and Landon Camp, and Mille Cayson; great grandchildren, Leia, Liam, and Ella Camp; brother; Jerry Camp (Nancy) Amory; brother-in-law, Ed Hunter, Amory; and nieces, Jessie Bauerschmidt and Virginia Kimbrel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Honea Camp; his parents, Will and Frances Camp; his son, Frank Camp Jr; his sister, Jane Camp; and grandson, Bryant Camp.

A Celebration of Life Service with Military Honors will be on Friday, November 29th at 2:00 p.m. at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Jason Pilcher officating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Pall Bearers will be Kendrick and Nick Isbell, Chase, Zeke and Landon Camp and Terry Cleveland.

While he will be greatly missed, his family and friends take comfort in knowing he is with his Lord and Savior and has joined precious family and friends. If he could, he would tell us with a smile, he truly is “just resting my eyes”.
