– Frank B. Shields, 76, died on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at Golden Living Center, Amory. Born on April 21, 1935, in Amory, he was a son of the late Willie Frank and Lucile Benton Shields.After graduating from Becker, Mr. Shields graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Shields owned and operated Shields Communications, Hunt, TX, and was the chief engineer of two radio stations he built in Kerrville, TX. Having the gift for gab, he was a HAM radio operator. A loving and caring man, he cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and was a supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Mr. Shields was a storyteller, prankster and enjoyed Gospel music and playing his steel guitar.He is survived by his wife, Mae Mixon Shields, Amory; daughters, Dana Shields (John) Lockhart, Sonya Shields (Craig) Landreth, Diane (Eddie) Adams, and Frankie (Jimmy) Phillips, all of Amory and Leigh Chaney Smith, Smithville; sons, T. J. Shields, Danny (Lynn) Shields, Wesley Shields and Terry Sloan, all of Amory, James (Shelia) Sloan, San Antonio, TX, and Steve Sloan, Amory; brother, Thomas (Nancy) Shields, Del Rio, TX; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Dr. Cliff Coleman and Doyal Hurdon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sons, Paul C. Shields and Little Frank Chaney and a sister, Gene Benoit.A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM, Friday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Randy Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in Durrett Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Lockhart, Chris Sloan, Randy King and Brian Shields.Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Thursday at the funeral home.Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at eepicklefuneralhome.com.
