Guin, AL – Laura Francis Pearson Isbell, 78, died on Thursday, January 9, 2014, at North MS Medical Center Hospice. Born on March 29, 1935, in Hatley, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Claude Kenny Kyle Pearson.
Mrs. Isbell attended Hatley School. In 1957, she married Cecil Thomas Isbell. She retired from Amory Garment as a seamstress in 1997. Mrs. Isbell was a member of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church, Guin, AL. Hilarious, sweet, and deeply loved by her family, she loved to cook for her family and spend time with all her grandchildren. Mrs. Isbell was passionate about hospice care and volunteered at Hospice of NW Alabama. She enjoyed talking on the phone, sewing, gardening, and Southern Gospel and Bluegrass music.
Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Coggins (Keith), Amory and Kathy Wright (Randy), Guin, AL; son, Kenny Isbell, Guin, AL; sisters, Peggy head (Billy), Aberdeen, Glenda Smith (Greg), Westminster, SC, and Judy Dove (Carl), Hatley; brothers, Billy Pearson (Bonita), Hatley, Herman Pearson (Martha) Wren, and Dennis Pearson (Pat), Hatley; grandchildren, Chasity Holloway, Mandy Lindsey, Leah Higginbotham (Jake), Rachael Jones (Jacob), and Matt Wright; great- grandchildren, Layne Holloway, Suni Holloway, Devin McDonald, Caytee Spann, Thomas Lindsey, Jacob Higginbotham, Sara Higginbotham, Easton Higginbotham, Riley Higginbotham, and Ada Rose Jones; numerous nieces & nephews; and special friends, Katherine Robertson, Jimmie Fievet, Nathaniel Sargent, Gina Langston, Mildred Isbell, and Joy Clifford.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil; sisters, Mary Cantrell, Jewel Howell, and Ernestine Roberts; and brothers, W. C., Leroy, and Steve Pearson.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, January 11 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Wright and Bro. David Crowe officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jake, Jacob, and Easton Higginbotham; Matt Wright; Jacob Jones; Devin McDonald; Layne Holloway; and Steve Hadaway. Honorary pallbearers will be the 3 East Respiratory Stepdown Unit Staff, NMMC Hospice Staff, NMMC ICU Staff, Richard Huffman, and Jason Lindsey.
Visitation will be from 10 AM – 12:50 PM, Saturday at the funeral home.
