Amory - Frances D. Morrow, 88, died on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Community Hospice at Darlington Oaks. Born on February 14, 1923, she was a daughter of the late S. Frank and Mary Lee Shephard Doolittle.
Mrs. Morrow was a graduate of Derma High School, Class of 1944, and MSCW. She married Harry L. Morrow on August 10, 1945. They were owners/operators of Drive-In Theatres in Calhoun City and bought the theatres in Amory when they moved here in 1959. Mrs. Morrow retired in 1971. A faithful member of First Baptist Church, she served as a Sunday school teacher, was the class pianist, and played the piano as Virginia Cole played the organ for church services. With family being most important, Mrs. Morrow enjoyed spending time with her grandsons. She enjoyed playing the piano, going to the lake house at Pickwick and volunteering for Meals-on-Wheels.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harry L. Morrow, Amory; daughter, Mary Denise M. (Phil) Faulkner, Amory; sisters, Sammie (Charles) Hardin, Calhoun City and Nell Gebhard, Orlando, FL; grandsons, Bryan (Rachael) Faulkner and Phillip Faulkner, Amory; great-grandson, Jack Thomas Faulkner, Amory; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Etta Graves.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at First Baptist Church, Amory with Dr. Allen Simpson and Bro. Jimmy McFatter officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be John Creekmore, Earl Green, Dr. Woody Brand, Jerry Frederick, Dr. John Burke, and Tommy Cole. Honorary pallbearers will be Malcolm Farris and Jerry Corder.
Visitation will be from 5 - 7 PM Monday at the funeral home.
