Frances “Fran” Swan
Amory— Frances “Fran” Swan, 97, passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Diversicare Nursing Center, Amory, MS. She was born on April 12, 1921 in Yalobusha County, MS, to William Otto and Mamie Barnes Davis.
Fran attended Coffeeville High School in Coffeeville, Mississippi. She was a faithful member of Meadowood Baptist Church and she loved the Lord. Fran was blessed during her lifetime with four children. Besides being a great mother, she also worked to help support her children. She was passionate about helping people and eventually entered a career field which matched her passion. She obtained her LPN license and worked for Dr. John Murphy, Dr. Richard Hollis and Dr. W.T. Oakes during her long career. She helped many people over her 55 years of service in the medical field and her heart was evident in work ethic.
In her free time, she enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends, listening to country music but most of all she enjoyed studying God’s word, The Bible. Her faith, family and friends meant the most to her. Fran leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that touched the lives of many. Her memories will live on in her loved one’s hearts.
Fran is survived by her daughter, Jo Pearson (Richard), Amory; sons,
Reggie Swan (Melody), Columbus, Ronnie Swan, Amory; brother, Wayne Davis, Piedmont, SC; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sue Mills; brothers, Rex Davis and Joe Davis; sister, Grace Winston.
A Funeral Service will be held at 4:30 PM, Saturday, September 1, 2018, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with Dr. Lloyd Sweatt and Bro. Danny Burks officiating. Burial will follow at Haughton Memorial Park, Amory, MS. Pallbearers will include Justin Swan, Curt Schumacher, Eric Swan, Patrick Swan, Mark Clay, and Jeffery Pearson. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.
Visitation will be from 2:30 pm – 4:15 pm, Saturday, at the funeral home in Amory.
