AMORY – Frances Phillips Faulkner, 81, died on Friday, March 9, 2012, at her daughter’s residence in Cordova, TN. Born on Sept. 1, 1930, in Hatley, she was the daughter William Gurdon and Oal Smith Phillips.
She graduated valedictorian of her class at Hatley High School in 1948. For more than 30 years, she worked with Dr. B.O. Moore as a RN and office manager and also with Dr. Eddie Yoe’s office. A woman whose faith remained strong and vigilant to the end, she was a lifelong devoted member of the Church of Christ. She always believed that people are basically good, and deserve a second chance when making mistakes and always forgave them accordingly. Having a great sense of humor, Mrs. Faulkner enjoyed the University of Memphis basketball, reading , walking, doing yard work, exercising and music by Elvis Presley and Tom Jones and Country music.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Amory Church of Christ with Minister Philip Hathcock officiating. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Faulkner of Cordova TN; son, Kim Faulkner, Story, WY; sister, Nel Justice (Arch) and brother, Don Phillips (Ellen) both of Amory; and nephew and niece, Mike Justice and Donna Edwards.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a niece, Karen Justice.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Vaughan, Wayne Howell, Dylan Edwards, Matt Schneider, Jim Birgham and Dr. Henry Watson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM, Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Faulkner will lie-in-state at the church from 9:45 – the service hour at the church.
