Frances Atkins

Amory – Frances Sanderson Atkins, 83, died on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at her residence. Born on April 6, 1928, in Amory, she was a daughter of the late Rufus and Zelma Meeks Sanderson.
Mrs. Atkins attended Amory High School. On November 12, 1947, she married Gayle Atkins. Mrs. Atkins worked as a bookkeeper with her husband at Gayle Atkins Logging Company. She was a member of NE Mississippi Worship Center. Becoming a homemaker, Mrs. Atkins fondest memories were watching her two boys grow up. A kind-hearted lady who saw the best in everyone, she enjoyed traveling with her family, reading Western novels, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sons, Dan Atkins and Kevin Atkins of Amory; her grandchildren, April Atkins, who was her caretaker, Christy Atkins, and Bryan Atkins; and a great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gayle Atkins in 2001.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, December 22 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Dudley and Sister Lucy Nash officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
Visitation will be from Noon – 1:45 PM, Thursday at the funeral home.
