Florence Young Poore

Amory – Florence Neal Poore, 88, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2015, at Sanctuary Hospice House, Tupelo. Born on May 31, 1927, in New Albany, she was a daughter of the late P. A. and Etoy Rossell Young.

Florence attended New Albany Schools. Working at Wilson’s; as a floor lady at Glenn’s; and as a seamstress at Amory Garment, she retired after more than 50 years in the garment industry. A woman of faith who knew her eternity with Christ was secure, Florence was of the Primitive Baptist faith and loved singing and listening to hymns. She is remembered as being determined and opinionated. An excellent cook, she loved to bake cakes, pies, and other sweets and would give them away to family and friends. She enjoyed sewing, reading, bead work, and jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors include her son, Richard W. Neal (Joyce), Hazel Green, AL; step-daughter, Charlotte Tubb, Amory; grandchildren, Kimberly Neal, Winter Springs, FL, and Stephanie Neal, Locust Grove, GA; step-grandchildren, John Hathcote (Heather), Jamie Houston (Chad), and Mary Bishop (Chad); great-granddaughter, Autumn Neal-Doersam; step-great-grandchildren, Eli, Will, and Lillie Hathcote; Andrew and Brady Houston; and Jolie and Graham Bishop; brothers, William “Buddy” Young, Tupelo.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Margie Pennington; and brothers, James, Marcus, Grant, and Charles Young.

A Private Burial was held on Monday, November 2, 2015, in Haughton Memorial Park.
