Hatley – Evie Lorraine Williams Law, 105, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016, at The Meadows in Itawamba County. Born on October 8, 1910, she was a daughter of the late John Wesley and Margaret McDougal Williams.
Evie attended school in the Dorsey Community. She married the love of her life, Edward Law, and together they were blessed by God with five children. Evie was a true Christian who was guided by the teachings of the Bible. She loved her church and its members at Hatley Missionary Baptist Church. Besides raising her many children and ensuring their welfare in life, she worked at Red Kap for over twenty years. She was a friendly, outgoing, and loving person to all people she met. She loved to grow flowers in her garden and work in yard. Her rose bushes gave her great pride and joy when they were in bloom. During quiet times, she enjoyed listening to Gospel music as a form of worship. A virtuous woman, Evie believed in using discipline to help steer her children in life. She was a giving person and she liked to sew for family. Evie was blessed with a long life and it was self evident to all that she loved her family and her church.
Survivors include her daughter, Joyce F. Browning, Hatley; sons, John A. Law (Sandra), Smithville, Theldon A. Law (Virginnia), Lee Summit, MO; daughter-in-laws, Marie Law of Smithville; Kay Law, of Gulf Breeze, FL; twelve grandchildren; thrity great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Law; daughter, Nellie M. Frank, Hatley; son, Roger Dale Law; sisters, Lizzie Williams, Sula West; brothers, Odie Williams, Cecil Williams.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, April 28, 2016, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Bro. Sidney Mc Leod officiating. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Adams, Alan Adams, Mark Adams, Ricky Franks, Jerry Franks, and Michael Adams.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
