Amory – Evelyn Majors Brock, 84, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at Sanctuary Hospice, Tupelo. Born on October 15, 1930, in Monroe County, MS, she was the daughter of the late Dee and Josephine Gilmore Majors.
Growing up, Evelyn attended school at Oak Hill. She married the love of her life, Earl Brock, on August 17, 1947. Evelyn was an excellent wife and mother and together with her husband they raised three children. When she wasn’t being a homemaker, she worked as a caregiver for elderly people and people on Hospice Care. She was a determined woman and obtained her GED at an age of 63. Evelyn loved the Lord and she was faithful member of Cason Baptist Church for 37 years. One could find her making notes in her cherished Bible. The most important thing in her life was her faith and love for God. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, watching channel 39 and traveling. While she traveled to places like the Smokey Mountains, she loved to collect rocks from different places. Some of her closet friends were Robert and Sharon Odom. Evelyn liked to listen to Gospel Music in her free time as well as travel and having cookouts with her family. Of all her accomplishments, she was most proud of her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Diane Tidwell (Bobby), Amory; son, Curtis Brock, Amory; Grandchildren, Bobby Joe Tidwell, Brad Tidwell (Emily), Scott Tidwell (Nikki), all of Amory; Great-Grandchildren, Stacy Patterson, Isaiah Tidwell, Bailey Doolittle, and Parker Tidwell; Great-Great-Grandchildren, Holden and Carson Patterson; a host of nieces and nephews; special friends, Robert and Sharon Odom.
In addition to her parents and her husband Earl, she was preceded in death by her son, Travis Brock; sisters, Maxine Chism, Geraldine Frederick; one infant brother.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11AM, Friday, September 11, 2015, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Jim Manley and Bro Bob Angle officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery, Itawamba County. Pallbearers will be Scott Tidwell, Bobby Joe Tidwell, Brad Tidwell, Stacy Patterson, Bailey Doolittle, Kenny Gilmore, Charles Plunkett, and Gerry Frederick.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory.
