Amory – Ethelene Sandlin Leggett, 98, died Friday, August 10, 2012 at Golden Living Nursing Center in Amory. Born July 30, 1914, she was the daughter of the late H.O. and Fannie Silas Sandlin.
Mrs. Leggett, outspoken at times, was very strong in her faith, and a goodhearted lady. She was raised in the Bethlehem Community of Monroe County and attended Bethlehem Schools. She married Oscar F Leggett, who preceded her in death. She worked in the garment industry employed by Glenn Manufacturing until her retirement. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She was the last member of her immediate family. Mrs. Leggett enjoyed sewing clothes for others and watching Bro Grady on TV39, following along with him with her Bible.
Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sisters, Molly Milligan, Lula Harris, Ila Cowart, Celia Brown, and Lona Holloway, brothers; Dallas, Clifford, Bunk, Verlon, and Burley Sandlin.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 4:00 pm Sunday, August 12, 2012 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro Brian Crocker and Bro. Johnny Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Sandlin, Barney Vann, J.W.Vann, Tracy West, Ronnie Boozer, and Joe Cowart.
Visitation will begin Sunday, Aug 12th at 2:00 pm until 3:45 pm.
