Estelle Vaughn

Hatley - Vera Estelle Vaughan, 90, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at her residence. Born on February 16, 1925, in Detroit, AL, she was a daughter of the late John Shaffer and Jonnie Avis Young Noe.

Estelle attended Smithville High School as a youth and she played basketball. She loved the Lord and was a lifelong member of Hatley Missionary Baptist Church. Estelle married John Bulah Vaughan on August 16, 1941 and together they raised four children. She loved her family and enjoyed just spending time with her children. She was a great mom, who was humble and meek yet had a strong character. A woman of great faith, she was very considerate of others and Estelle took great pride in giving to her church whether it was something someone needed or the wonderful gift of prayer. She worked as a Seamstress at Glenn’s Manufacturing and also at Red Kap in Hatley. Estelle had a green thumb and she enjoyed growing and working with flowers and vegetables in her gardens. She also liked watching birds and working on word searches. Her special companion “Beamer”, a puppy Chihuahua, meant a lot to her. She was the perfect example of the woman described in the Bible in Proverbs 31. She passed on a great legacy to her children and grand-children.
