– Emma Adine “Ms. Emma” “Deanna” Mitchell, 73, died on Sunday, October 31, 2010, at UMMC, Jackson. Born on March 30, 1937, in Lamar County, AL, she was a daughter of the late Marlin & Millie Rae Carrouth Flynn.Mrs. Mitchell lived in Lamar County and attended Sulligent schools before moving to Kenosha, WI, at age 16. She worked at Warwix and Anchor Hocking Glass in Zion and Waukegan, IL. In 1971, Mrs. Mitchell moved to Amory. Known as a hard-working and sweet lady, she made friends easily. A widow since 1980, she was a devoted mother who was very proud of her children and grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Gattman. Mrs. Mitchell enjoyed traveling and loved to go riding in her car. Having a love for the Smoky Mountains and often wanted to live there, she enjoyed visiting Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Dewayne) Basham, Hatley; sons, Joe (Janet) Mitchell, Gattman and Larry (Renee) Mitchell, Amory; sister, Ann (Dave) Anthony, Galesville, WI; half-brother, Gene Flynn, Birmingham, AL; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Humphries and Katie Mitchell, both of Cleveland, TN, and Gertha Davis, Red Bay; brothers-in-law, Johnny Davis, Red Bay and Rev. Harvey Mitchell, Cleveland, TN; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 9 nieces; 8 nephews; and special friends Joy and Bob Sweeney, Amory. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Mitchell in 1980; sister-in-law, Raynell Flynn; brother, Billy Russell Flynn; brother-in-law, Charles Humphries; granddaughter, Brandie Maschell Basham; and niece, Barbara Brown.A Funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory with Bro. Jackie Pate and Rev. Harvey Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Wofford Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David and Jonathan Basham, Danny Allred, Joey and Patrick McDonald and Jeff McAfee. Honorary pallbearers will be Dewayne Basham, Lonnie Green, Danny Scott, Bobby Price and Travis Mitchell.Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at eepicklefuneralhome.com.
