Nettleton— Emily Grace McCollum Summerford entered into her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior on January 5, 2018. She was born on August 29, 1992 in Amory, MS to Ronald and Janice McCollum.
Emily was a 2010 Honor Graduate from Nettleton High School where she was a member of the Beta Club and the Hall of Fame. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and studied Nursing at Itawamba Community College. Emily worked at various nursing homes in the area. She showed compassion and love to all of her residents and treated them all like family.
Emily had a love for all that is beautiful on this earth. She loved the outdoors, planting beautiful flowers, and all of God’s creatures and animals. She especially loved her dogs, Samson, Abbie, and Romi. Emily had a special love for her nieces, Rilee, Taylor, and Addison, and loved them as her own. They were “her girls.”
Emily never met a stranger. She will be missed by all who ever knew her, but there is peace in knowing she is with Jesus.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Caleb Summerford of Becker; her parents, Ronald and Janice Taylor McCollum of Nettleton; sister, Bethany Canyon (Chris), Nettleton; nieces, Rilee Kate Canyon, Taylor Beth Canyon, Addison Grace Canyon, Nettleton; mother and father-in-law, Keith and Debbie Summerford, Becker; maternal grandmother, Vera Nell Taylor, Nettleton; paternal grandmother, Elizabeth McCollum, Nettleton; uncles, Richard Taylor (Melinda), Nettleton, and Donny McCollum (Carolyn), Corinth; special cousins and friends.
Emily was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, James Theron Taylor (Tiny), and paternal grandfather, Lee Howard McCollum.
Her funeral service will be held at 3PM on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at CrossPointe Church in Nettleton. Bro. Tommy Ray Dabbs will be officiating. Bro. Randy Spencer will be assisting in the service as well. Pallbearers will be Kyle Taylor, Luke Summerford, Dalton Sullivan, Jesse Gillentine, Dylan Sullivan, Garrett Westbrook, Joe Sullivan, Bradley Sullivan, and Jonathon Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Nettleton High School Class of 2010 and friends. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Nettleton, with Bro. Wesley Stevens officiating the graveside service.
Visitation for Emily will be from 5-8PM Monday, January 8, 2018, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory. She will lie in state at Crosspointe Church in Nettleton from 2-2:50 Tuesday, January 9, 2017.
