– Elvis Kennedy, 68, died on Sunday, January 8, 2012, at her residence. Born on February 15, 1943, in Amory, she was a daughter of the late Elvie and Ruth Franks Manasco.Elvis was a graduate of Amory High School, Class of 1961. She married Buck Kennedy on February 5, 1961. Elvis was very instrumental in running the family business, Value Craft Furniture. Strong in her faith, she was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of Dr. Lewis’ Sunday School class and was a former Sunday School teacher. At the church, Elvis helped start the church luncheons for families who have had a death in their family, cooked for the Women’s Conference, volunteered and worked the Thanksgiving meal ministry for six years, and delivered meals to shut-ins. A loving, caring, and giving faithful servant who placed others before herself, Elvis was passionate about reaching out to help older people. She enjoyed cooking, reading, and doing yardwork.A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, January 11 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Allen Simpson and Bro. Jimmy McFatter officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bobby Phillips, Arlis Lee, John Creekmore, Dr. Eddie Yoe, William “Red” Reeves, and Lawrence Stevens. Honorary pallbearers will be members of her Sunday School class. Visitation will be on Tuesday January 10,2012 from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.She is survived by her son, Keith B. Kennedy, Amory; sisters, Ina Phillips (Bobby), and Purney Lee (Arlis), of Amory; several nieces and nephews; and special, beloved friend, Charlie.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Parham, and brother, Tim Manasco.Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, PO Box 540, Amory, MS 38821 or to Amory Humane Society, 1317 Old Hwy. 6, Amory, MS 38821.Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at eepicklefuneralhome.com.
