. E. Pickle Funeral Home Hatley – Elvin Ausbon ‘Jack’ Franks, 82, died on Thursday, February 23, 2012, at his home. Born on March 21, 1929, in Itawamba County, he was a son of the late Alford Elvin and Luna E. Christian Franks.Mr. Franks married Nellie M. Law on June 27, 1948. Hardworking, he had worked various construction jobs before retiring as a foreman with Monroe County Electric Power after 33 ½ years of service. Professing Christ as his Savior on July 16, 1962, Mr. Franks was a member of Hatley Missionary Baptist Church. A loving husband, father, and grandfather who had a great sense of humor, many of his hobbies included fishing, hunting, and gardening.A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, February 26 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Sidney McLeod and Bro. Dean Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad, Tony, Jerry, and Donnie Franks; Alan, David, and Mark Adams; Roy Bottorf; and Lecil Ball. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present coworkers of Monroe County Electric Power and Rhonda Burrow and staff of NMMC Hospice.Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Saturday at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nellie M. Law Franks, Hatley; children, Jerry Franks (Dogama), Nettleton, Cheryl Irwin (Jerry), Grand Rapids, MI, Brenda Turner, Hatley, and Rickey Franks (Carol), Hatley; sisters, Ernie M. Dill, Joyce Jackson, and Loyce Holcomb, all of Fulton and Linda Thompson (Oneal), Aberdeen; mother-in-law, Evie Law, Hatley; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Faye Brown, Lavee Dill, Laverne Vess, and Dathel McComb; brother, Orville Franks; granddaughter, Kim Irwin; great-granddaughter, Tiffany Franks; great-great-grandson, Bentley Franks; great-great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Watson; and father-in-law, Edward Law.Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, c/o Beth May, PO Box 269, Amory, MS 38821.Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at eepicklefuneralhome.com.
