Elnor York Williams

Elnor York Puckett Williams, 80, of Amory, MS, passed away Friday, August 29, 2014, after a lengthy illness. Born and raised in Amory, Elnor was an active member of First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School, served on various committees, sang in the choir for many years, chaperoned several youth choir trips, was active in the Upper Room Sunday School Class, and was a life member of United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Junior Auxiliary, and a charter member of the Gilmore Memorial Hospital Volunteers, where she served 13 years as a Volunteer, and was awarded Volunteer of the Year in appreciation of her service.

In recent years, Elnor lived in Snellville, GA with her daughter and son-in-law, Lara and Joe Brennan, where she took great joy in regularly phoning members of her church to offer encouragement and let them know she was thinking of and praying for them.

Elnor’s greatest joy in life was being a devoted and loving mother to her son, Lee and daughter, Lara; and taking pride in her granddaughters, Jennifer, Kristin, Kelsey, and Kendall. To them, and many others, her life serves as a genuine example of unconditional love, selflessness, loyalty, perseverance through adversity, resilience in tribulation, and putting the needs of others before her own. Devout in her faith, rich in friends, always with a smile on her face, Elnor's light and love will be dearly missed but always treasured and remembered by her loved ones.

Elnor is preceded in death by her parents, Erbie Lee and Frances Puckett of Amory, aunt, Kathleen Herrero of Amory, and her beloved son, Lee Williams of Monument CO.

She is survived by her daughter, Lara Williams Brennan (Joe) of Snellville GA, granddaughters, Jennifer Williams Colburn (Brandon) of Leeds AL, Kristin Williams of Mobile AL, Kelsey Brennan of Snellville GA, Kendall Brennan of Wash DC, great-granddaughter, Stella Lee Colburn of Leeds AL, sister, Anna Solomon (Kelly Knight) of Hattiesburg, MS, first cousins Dr. Richard Hollis (Weesie) of Amory MS, Jere York (Polly) of Wake Forest, NC, nephews Don Solomon (Trish) of Durango CO, Tommy Solomon (Kelly) of Phoenix AZ, Mike Williams (Pam) of Lawrenceville GA, niece, Kay Brown of Snellville GA, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Funeral Service will be at 11AM, Thursday, September 4 at First United Methodist Church, Amory with Rev. Jimmy Criddle and Joe Brennan officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery.
