Elmo Duke

Elmo Duke, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully in Amory, Mississippi on January 3, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on April 13, 1930, in Hamilton, Alabama, to the late Eldridge Merida Duke (Sam) and Erin Estelle Fikes. He dedicated his life to his family, his faith and his work.

Elmo was a proud graduate of Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Alabama. His career as a businessman spanned several ventures; he was the owner of Home Cable Mississippi Antenna, General Shelter, F&D Farm, and Freight Way Trucking. Each of these businesses reflected his passion and commitment to serving the community where he lived and worked.

As a Christian, Elmo embodied the values of his faith throughout his life. He was the cofounder of the Amory Christian Missionary Alliance, an organization that influenced many in the area. His commitment to his beliefs extended into every aspect of his life, influencing those around him and leaving a lasting impact.

Elmo's interests were simple yet profound. He cherished spending time on his back porch, where he found joy in watching birds and animals, finding tranquility in the beauty of nature. His warm personality and engaging spirit made him a beloved figure not only to his family but also to many within the community.

He is survived by his loving wife, Vivian Duke; his sons, Ronald Julian Duke (Amy), Amory, MS and Terry Lee Duke (Susan), Amory, MS; his brother, Jackie Duke (Evelyn); and his treasured grandchildren, Matthew Duke (Leslie), St. Petersburg, FL, Justin Duke (Loren), Tupelo, MS, Tracy Hill (John), Mark Duke, Rebecca Henry (Chris), Fran Glasscock (Eric). Elmo was also a proud great-grandfather to Will Duke, Olivia Duke, Sophia Duke, Isabella Duke, and Jackson Duke.

Visitation for Elmo Duke will be held on January 6, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM, both taking place at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, Mississippi. Pallbearers will be Justin Duke, Louis Duke, Glen, Bingham, Mike Riley, Tommy Gann, and Larry Goudelock.

Elmo Duke's life was a testament to his dedication to his family, faith, and business, and he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
