Elmer Rea
Hamilton, Miss.—Elmer Lee Rea, 84, died on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Community Hospice Darlington Oaks in Verona. Born August 9, 1929 in Hamilton, he was a son of L.W. and Icey Bell Jones Rea. He married Ruby Lorene Hacker. Before his retirement, he worked as an electrician for International Harvester in Libertyville, IL. Guided by his faith in the Lord, he was a member of the Hamilton Church of God of Prophecy and he enjoyed bluegrass gospel music, singing, and playing the mandolin.
A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Hamilton Church of God of Prophecy with Bro. Billy Stevens and Bro. Kevin Rea officiating. Burial will be in the McDuffie Cemetery. E.E. Pickle Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby L. Rea (Janice) of Hamilton and Roger Steven Rea of Hamilton; one daughter, Brenda Rea of Hamilton; one brother, Lonnie Rea (Minnie Nell) of Hamilton; 3 sisters, Gussie Pounders of Decatur, AL, Bessie Perkins of Hamilton, and Lona Strawbridge (Edward) of Sherman; 8 grandchildren, Amy Fulton (Tim), Angela McNutt, Terry Cantrell (Laurie), Tammy Bailey, Lorie Rea, Steven Rea (Erica), Emily Rea, and Roger Rea; 15 great grandchildren, Alissa Rude, Brooke Simonson, Caleb McNutt, Dallas Fulton, Jessica Cantrell, Casey Cantrell, Ashley Klinesmith, Austin Lancaster, Alana Bailey, Holly Welch, Haley Rea, Kaylin Rea, Shyla Rea, Collin Redlin, and Kaylie Redlin; and two great-great grandchildren, Maddie Kate Johnson and Audrey Schroeder.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers, Oneal and L.W. “Jr.” Rea; and two sisters, Selmer and Lucille Rea.
Pallbearers will be Austin Lancaster, Casey Cantrell, Tim Fulton, and Ricky Rea. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of the River Place Nursing Center.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Sunday evening at the church and will continue until service time on Monday.
