ELMER HAMILTON

Amory –Elmer Lee Hamilton, 78, began his new life in Heaven and became totally healed on Thursday, January 19, 2023. He was born on August 21, 1944, in Amory, MS to the late Troy Hamilton and Erbie Mae Ausborn Hamilton.

Elmer grew up in Monroe County and was a graduate of Hatley High School. He furthered his education at IJC and started working in the Financial Industry in 1966. An entrepreneur with a great work ethic and several years of experience under his belt, he ventured out on his own in 1985. He opened Amory Finance Corporation and ran a successful business for over thirty years. Elmer helped many people in the community make their dreams come true by working hard to get them the financing they needed. He treated his business clients as his extended family and they could feel how much he cared about them. This is why he was so successful in life. He also worked on the side as a Matthews Archery Dealer, which was something he did not consider work at all.

Elmer was very involved in the community and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Elmer loved the Lord and was grateful for his wonderful family. He was blessed by God with two children and a loving wife, Beverly Cox Hamilton, whom he married on January 16, 1985. Elmer would do anything for anyone and his love and compassion was evident to all that met him. He liked to give to the Shriners as children had a special place in his heart. When he needed to listen to something to pick him up, he always chose Elvis. With his granddaughter, Ana Grace, right by his side, they would get lost in the magic of his music.

In his free time, he liked to be surrounded by God’s creations, usually hunting, and he especially liked the thrill of coon hunting. Elmer was a proud member of the National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited, the NWTF, and he was a past member of the Mississippi Consumer Finance Association. A supportive man, he also enjoyed watching his son, Brad and his grandson, Jared, play baseball. Some of his closest friends, beside his best friend Beverly, were David and Debbie Wright, as they often played cards and went out to eat together a lot.

Elmer touched so many people in community as helped them realize their dreams. Above all, he was most proud of his children and his extended family and all they had become in life. They will cherish all the great memories made with him. Elmer will be missed dearly yet they know they will meet him again someday.

Left behind to treasure the memories of him are his wife, Beverly Cox Hamilton, Amory; daughter, Lana McGonagill (Joe), Amory; son, Brad Hamilton (Amy), Amory; grandchildren, Zack McGonagill (Morgan), Jared McGonagill (Kayla), Brody McGonagill, Ana Grace McGonagill, Jackson Hamilton, and Koehn Hamilton; great-grandchildren, Joleigh McGonagill, Amelia McGonagill, Mabrey McGonagill, and Autumn McGonagill; nieces and nephews, Lisa Weaver Thompson, Brenda Tillman, Mike Hamilton, Lori Countryman; and special friends, Debbie and David Wright, Ben Wright.
