Amory – Ellen Wells Phillips, 78, died on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at North MS Medical Center, Tupelo. Born on July 12, 1936, in Becker, she was a daughter of the late Hershell Jack and Ovie Lee Nabors Wells.
Mrs. Phillips attended Becker Schools. On June 29, 1956, she married Donald Phillips. She retired from True Temper after 12 years of service to become a homemaker. Mrs. Phillips was a member of Christian Chapel Church of Christ. Loving and having a great mind, her life was guided by her love for the Lord and her family. An enthusiastic supporter of anything they accomplished, she enjoyed her grandsons, loved watching them grow up and play sports. Mrs. Phillips loved Ole Miss Sports, Braves baseball, Saints football, crossword puzzles and game shows.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Donald Phillips, and daughter, Donna Annalise Philips Edwards (Jimmy) of Amory; sister, Tula Wells Nichols (Pete), Hamilton, AL; brothers, Hershell Wells (Judy) and Mike Wells of Amory; grandchildren, Chase Parham (Kara), Dylan Edwards, Jennifer Reeves (Steven), and Deric Edwards (Jess); great-grandchildren, Grace and Audrey Reeves; Eli and Avery Edwards; several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Wells; nephew, Jon Wells; and brother, Jerry Wayne Wells.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, September 22 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Mr. Marshall Eubanks, Jr., and Mr. Chase Surrell officiating. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wade Williams, Shannon Nichols, Jace Wells, Steven Reeves, Barry Smith and Wayne Howell. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Vaughn and Dale Howell.
Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.
