Eleanor Howell Roberts

Amory – Eleanor Howell Roberts, 82, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2018 at North Mississippi Medical Center, Tupelo, MS. Born on October 15, 1935, in Amory, she was a daughter of the late Montgomery Ward and Maggie Sue Hughes Howell.

Eleanor graduated from Amory High School in 1953. She was baptized into the Lord’s Church in 1964 at the Columbus Church of Christ. She was a wonderful Christian lady who was very giving. Eleanor loved the Lord and in addition to the Columbus Church of Christ she also attended North Boulevard Christian Church. She was blessed by God with three children and her family grew abundantly over the years.

In 1965, she moved to Escondido, California and worked at the Escondido National Bank until 1975. Returning home to Amory, she worked at Gilmore Hospital as a Medical Records Clerk. She eventually went to work for the Lee County Health Department and retired at age 62. Eleanor was an independent, loving and strong woman.

She loved to travel, especially going on trips with her family and friends. Somedays, she like to just get in her car and take a drive into the country. Once a month, she got together with her graduation class group and they would fellowship and talk about memories of the past. One of her favorite things to do was to visit Branson Missouri and watch Mickey Gilley perform. Her family meant the most to her in her life and the memories she left them will be cherished forever.

Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Roberts Tipton (Jerry), Amory; sons, Kenneth “Neil” Roberts (Teresa), Aberdeen, Monty Ray Roberts (Francis), Amory; grandchildren, Sharon Roberts, Brad Tipton, Kenny Tipton, Cassie Sullivan, Tracy McCollum, Amy Roberts, Brandon Easter, Ken Roberts, Wesley Roberts, Kami Roberts and Jerod Roberts; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Taylor, Ethan, John Mark, Alivia, Chase, Justin, Noah, Kodie, Kaelyn, Kylie, and Axel; sister, Jean Tubb, Amory; special friend, Mary Riddle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Howell; sister, Joyce Howell; great-grandchildren, Braylon and Bently.

A celebration of life service for Eleanor Roberts will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, March 30, 2018 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel, Amory. Mr. Bobby Cleveland will be officiating. Pallbearers will be all of her grandsons, Brandon, Wesley, Ken, Jared, Brad, and Kenny.

Visitation for Eleanor will be from 5-8 PM on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the funeral home.
