Parham Community – Elaine Swan, 88, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Merit Health Gilmore Memorial. Born on March 20, 1928, in the Bethlehem Community, she was a daughter of the late E. L. and Nola Lee Annie Coker Massengill.

Elaine attended Smithville School. On September 19, 1969, she married Dale Swan. For over 25 years, she worked as a seamstress with Amory Garment and Monroe Trousers. Elaine was of the Baptist faith. Loving and very outgoing, she was passionate about her family. She cherished all the moments spent together with her family and the memories that were created with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elaine was very supportive of her family. Taking great pride in preparing meals, she was an excellent cook.

Witty and funny, she had a gift of making people laugh. A very classy lady, Elaine was very stylish in how she dressed. One who loved of being outdoors, she enjoyed working in her flowers, gardening and bird watching. Gospel and Country music were her favorites and she enjoyed listening to Elvis. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Dale Swan, Parham Community; daughter, Vicki (Steve) Simmons, Smithville; son, Phil (Ann) Goodwin, Smithville; grandchildren, Leigh Anne (Josh) Mac Kenzie, Smithville, John (Misty) Harris, Hatley; Megan Brown, Smithville; Philip Goodwin, Oxford, and fiancée, Mari Anna Young, Nettleton; great-grandchildren, Olivia Goodman and Jack Brown, Smithville; Kayleigh, John Kyle and Kentleigh Harris, Hatley; Aubrey and Annsleigh MacKenzie, Smithville; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Clara Bell Tucker, Marie “Doot” Stone and Jewell Vandiver; brothers, Homer “Toss,” L. G. “Shellie,” and C. W. Massengill.

Her Funeral Service will be at 11 AM, Friday, December 30 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home, Amory, with Mr. David Highland and Bro. Charles Coggins officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Harris, Philip Goodwin, Josh MacKenzie, Buck Harp, Mike Vandiver and Jim Ed Riggan.

Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Thursday at the funeral home.
