Becker — Brenda Elaine Edwards, 71, passed away at her residence on Saturday, November 11, 2017. Born on August 13, 1946, at Gilmore Hospital in Amory, she was the daughter of J.B. and Edith Frances Armstrong.
Elaine married her soulmate, and love of her life, Jerry, at the age of fifteen. She attended Becker and Amory school and obtained her G.E.D. later in life. During her career, she worked at Gilmore Shoe Store, Black’s Dept. Store, and Walmart. However, she took most pride in the fact that she was a homemaker, filling her home with lots of love and beautiful children. Elaine was passionate about taking care of her family and spending time with her beloved husband of 55 years. She was a faithful member of Becker Baptist Church. Before her sickness, she was involved in all aspects of church, including choir, Sunday school, VBS volunteer, and Sunday School Assistant.
In her free time, Elaine enjoyed camping and visiting nursing homes. She was passionate about caring for others. She had many friends that she enjoyed spending time with. Mrs. Nell Young and Mrs. Janyce Williams were close to her heart. Elaine loved southern gospel music and music from her era. She loved to dance to big band music, especially the Charleston. Above all things, raising her family was most important. Elaine leaves behind a legacy of what it meant to be truly selfless… She will be dearly missed.
Elaine is survived by her husband, Jerry Edwards, Becker; daughter, Tonya Flurry (Scott), Amory; son, Greg Edwards (Debbie), Becker; grandchildren, Drew Edwards (Hannah), Alana Edwards, Marley Edwards; great-granddaughter Henley Elise Edwards; brother, Louis Armstrong, Memphis; a host of nieces and nephews who she loved dearly; and special friends, Kathy Corbell, Mary Wells, Sue Huberty, and all of the Legacy Hospital workers.
