Smithville, Miss.—Lee Edward Phillips, 71, died on Monday, April 1, 2013 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Born February 13, 1942 in Amory, he was a son of the late Theodore and Tula Mae Ritter Phillips. A graduate of Hatley High School, he retired as a welder for Fabri-Valve. He was married to Sarah Foster. Much of his time was spent with his family and friends and in his garden. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, and hunting. He was Baptist.
A Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the E.E. Pickle Funeral Home Chapel in Amory with Bro. Mac Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery.
Survivors include one brother, David Wayne Phillips (Angie) of Wren; one sister, Marquleta Phillips of Brandon; one brother, Bobby Phillips (Ina) of Amory; grandchildren, Cody Phillips and Cole Phillips; step-grandson, Chase Gaines; nephews, Robert and Kevin Phillips; and Sarah Phillips and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Elbert Hoyle Phillips; son, Shawn Phillips; and nephew, Dennis Phillips.
Pallbearers will be Billy Savage, Robert Brown, Mike Steel, Robert Phillips, Billy Dobbs, and Rayburn Blaylock. Honorary pallbearers will be Phil Burks, Garyon Belk, Mike Easely, Barry Poole, and Frank Gaddy.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
