Amory- Edward Clayton Mize, 72, died Monday, March 24, 2014 at Aberdeen Care Center. Born February 8, 1942 in Quincy, he was a son of Robert “Jack” and Dorothy Mildred Sims Mize. He married Mavis Irene Newman in 1988.
He attended Quincy and Hatley School, graduating from Amory High School. He retired from Georgia Gulf as an electrician with 37 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith, loved spending time with his family and friends, and being outdoors hunting and fishing.
He is survived by a step daughter, Robin Gill, FL; stepsons, Steve King (Linda), Nettleton, Ronnie King (Jane), Mantachie and Jeff King (Stacy), Amory; sisters, Margaret Reeves (Joe), Quincy and Virginia Bowen (George), Amory; 12 step grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife he is preceded in death by a step son, Edgar Odell King, an infant sister and 2 brothers, William Davis and Robert Oneal Mize.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Justin Simmons and Bro. Jeff King officiating. Burial will follow in Durrett Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rodney King, Stephen King, Donald Denton, D.J. Denton, Mark Holley and Andrew Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Bowen, Donnie Bowen, Dow Pickle, Gary Pickle, Danny Gardner and George Wright.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 5-8pm.
