Birmingham, AL – Edna Hill, born on September 3, 1925, in Birmingham, AL, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 23, 2016.
She lived in Amory, MS, from 1953, until November 2015, when she moved to Hoover, AL, to be near her children and grandchildren. Ms. Hill was a partner with her late husband, Dr. C. Bert Hill, in his veterinary practice, Amory Animal Hospital, managing the accounting department and always available to help when needed. She and her late husband, Bert, enjoyed traveling with one another visiting all fifty of the United States together. They also enjoyed golf and were loyal supporters of Auburn University and Auburn football. Many fun years were spent attending Auburn football games with family and friends. Ms. Hill was a member of Auburn University Samford Society.
She was predeceased in death by her husband, Charles Bert Hill; parents, Alma Scott Durden and Dewitt Clinton Durden; sisters, Gladys Durden Richards, Mable Durden Creel, and Martha Durden Townsend; brothers, Clint Durden, Maury Durden, and Ralph Durden; son-in-law, Michael O. Vann.
She is survived by her sister, Corene Durden Thomas, Jefferson, Georgia; children, Susan Hill Vann, Birmingham, AL, and Charles Bert Hill, Jr., (Judy), Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Alma Michelle Murphree Cintron (Dario), Charles Bert Hill, III (Jamie), Richard Stewart Hill (India), William Roy Murphree, Jr., (Brooke), and Elizabeth Hill McGowan (Matt). Ms. Hill is also survived by six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Edna Hill was a long-time devoted and loving member of First United Methodist Church, Amory.
Her visitation is 1 PM and funeral 2 PM, Sunday, September 25, 2016, at First United Methodist Church, Amory, with Rev. Don McCain officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery, Amory.
