HATLEY - Mrs. Edith Moore, 89, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory. Born on December 24, 1928 in Amory, she was the daughter of the late William Raymond and Ruby Lee Ausborn Parham. She attended Hatley High School and was a lifetime member of the Hatley Missionary Baptist Church. She was employed at Hatley Red Kap for many years. She married Dwight Moore on October 18, 1958. Together, they were blessed with 4 children.
She loved to cook and wanted to make sure that everyone always had plenty to eat. Some of her favorite foods to cook were chicken & dumplings and the vegetables that were gathered from her garden.
In addition to her love for cooking, she took pride in her flowers and garden. One of her favorite pastimes was to talk on the telephone. If you were to describe Mrs. Edith, you would say that she loved the Lord and that she had a heart of gold. To know her was to love her. She was never one to ask for anything however, she always gave her time and devotion to everyone.
Edith was loved by her family and friends. She loved to talk to her grandchildren and tell them of days past. She will always be remembered by the legacy she has left to her family.
Edith Moore is survived by her husband, Dwight; daughters, Carolyn (Jimmy) Dahlem, Amory and Tammy (Gilbert) Whitehead, Smithville; son, Phil (Lisa) Moore, Aberdeen; brothers, Herbert W. (June) Parham, Tupelo, Jimmy Dale (Mary Ann) Parham, Amory; step-son Jerry (Irma) Moore, Germany; grandchildren, Leigh Ann (Ben) Wright, Steve Cole, Leigh Ann (Dwight) Chism, Brooke (Opie) Cockrell, Meagan (Drew) McCain, Mandi Madison Whitehead, Erin Moore; Great-grandchildren, Drake West, Carli Cole, Jade Chism, Marleigh Cockrell, Emma Wright, Evie Kayte Chism, Owen and Felix Moore; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Jean Richardson, and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dewey Parham.
A celebration of life service for Edith Moore will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 23, 2018 at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory. Bro. Wes White and Bro. Gary Self will be officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Cole, Jim Parham, Drew Parham, Ben Wright, Opie Cockrell, Drew McCain, and Vaughn Outlaw.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
