Edith Armstrong

Amory— Edith Francis Jackson Armstrong, 91, passed away on October 7, 2017. Born in Athens, MS, on November 24, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Pope and Eunice Hood Jackson (Perkins).

Edith attended Becker School until the age of 16, when she married her sweetheart, J.B. Armstrong, on June 6, 1942. Later in life, she obtained her GED, and she was very happy about that accomplishment. During her career, she worked in the garment industry for many years. She also helped run the family farm. Edith took much pride in teaching her grandchildren the importance of hard work. She was also passionate about the V.A. and gave faithfully to their cause.

Edith was a faithful member of Becker Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and instilled her values in her family. Her family brought much joy to her life, and she enjoyed teaching them about God’s love. Edith was always active with her Ladies Sunday School Class while she was able to attend church.

In her free time, she loved to sew. Edith made pageant dresses and recital gowns. Along with her talent with a sewing needle, she was also a wonderful cook. Edith was known for her famous pound cakes and cornbread. Her family and friends referred to her as “the best cook in the world,” and her meals were so delicious that even decades later, neighbors could remember the home-cooked meals she made. Edith always made sure to whip up enough food for passersby that would join them, as anyone was invited to her table.

Above all things, Edith loved her Lord. She loved spending time with her family and making sure they knew Jesus. Edith can rest easy now that she is finally in her heavenly home. She leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories with her loved ones.
