Eddie Poole
Amory - Eddie Poole, 59, passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, April 2, 2023.
Eddie’s love of life and love of his family are two things that everyone mentions about him. One of his family members recently said that Eddie could make anyone believe anything he told them. He loved to tell tales to those around him and most believed him, despite the ridiculousness of the tales.
He loved his family, Alabama football, and duck hunting. And he loved his friends like brothers. He would always tell his friends “love you brother.”
Eddie was a standout athlete at Smithville High School, graduating in 1983 after playing football, basketball, and baseball for the Seminoles. After high school, he played tight end at IJC (currently Itawamba Community College) in Fulton for two years. He met the love of his life, Kitty Atkinson, in sixth grade and was married to her for 36 years.
He is survived by his wife, Kitty Atkinson Poole; son, Cole Poole; grandson, Baylor Poole; brothers, Jimmy Earl (Teresa) Poole of Amory and Barry (Kristy) Poole of High Point, North Carolina; sister, Rhonda Kennedy of Fulton; sisters-in-law, Sherrie (Randy) Edwards, Carol Morris, and Debbie Gray; brother-in-law, Ronnie Atkinson; nieces and nephews, Tanner (Peyton) Poole, Parker (Kylee) Poole, Kylar Poole, Kalynn Poole, Nile Hunt, Dillon (Brooke) Kennedy, Austin Kennedy, Ryan Morgan, Seth Morgan, Keith (Payton) Edwards, Mandy (Kendall) Powell, Audri (Jarrod) Baker, Michelle (Wade) Bickerstaff, and Luke Morris; Eddie’s father-in-law and mother-in-law, Pete and Norma Atkinson; and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Dorothy Edwards Poole.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life Service at the Old Atkinson Steak House on Parham Store Road in Smithville, MS on Saturday April 15, at 1:00 pm.
Plants may be sent to the family home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Amory Humane Society in honor of Eddie Poole.
Eddie’s special friends, who the family wishes to recognize, include Wade Horne, Brian Stevens, Mitch Springfield, Eric Swann, Charles Moreland, T.W. Sanderson, Bobby McCullough, Ken Williams, Darwin Riggan, Randy Hood, John Leech, Tommy Head, Shawn Glasgow, Robbie Ausbon, and Randy Harmon.
